Perhaps you or a loved one has suffered a stroke or other illness that is affecting the ability to speak or form words appropriately. Sometimes a defect may originate in the brain, the ear, or somewhere along the vocal tract which may affect the voice, articulation, language development, or the ability to speak after language is learned. Therapy begins with diagnosis of the underlying physical, physiological, or emotional dysfunction. It may involve training in breathing, use of the voice, and/or speaking habits.
ACS Home Care LLC’s Speech Therapists will develop a program that can help strengthen the muscles of the mouth, neck, and face to alleviate problems such as choking and coughing, while improving the ability to speak clearly, chew, and swallow.
We also help our clients:
- Find other ways to communicate, including making gestures or facial expressions
- Develop strategies to cope when communication is challenging
- Read, write, and remember important things
ACS Home Care LLC’s Speech Therapists will help develop an exercise program tailored to each patient’s individual needs, and will help with strategies to ensure that speaking and swallowing are easier and safer.
